Dr. Nurul Hamiruddin bin Salleh is
an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture at Kulliyyah of
Architecture and Environmental Design (KAED), International Islamic University
Malaysia (IIUM), Selangor. He was the
Head of Department of Architecture from July 2012 until June 2014 and October
2016 until December 2016. He obtained his Diploma in Architecture and Bachelor
in Architecture (Hons) degree in 1996 and 2000, respectively from Universiti
Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Johor, Malaysia. He was awarded Master of Arts in
Conservation Studies (Historic Buildings and Places) from University of York,
York, the United Kingdom in
2003. Consequently, he pursued his studies and was conferred a PhD. in
Architecture (Building Conservation) in 2011 from Universiti Sains Malaysia
(USM), Penang, Malaysia. His research interest includes architectural
heritage, heritage buildings conservation, building fire safety, building
technology and materials, architectural documentation. Nurul Hamiruddin
is active in publication, research, supervision and consultancy. In 2015, he
was accepted as a Registered Conservator by Department of National Heritage (JWN). He is also a Professional Technologist in Building and Construction
Technology with Malaysian Board of Technologist (MBOT). He has been involved in
various consultancy projects such as Johor Bahru Urban Forest Project, Proposed
Master Plan for Azlan Malaysia in Perak, Proposed International Islamic
University Afghanistan, Conservation of Masjid Sultan Alaeddin in Banting, KAED
Malay Enclave Teaching Lab, and Restoration of Rumah Melayu No. 41 Chow Kit. Currently, he is a council member of ICOMOS
Malaysia and member of PAM Heritage & Conservation Committee.
